Non-NHS work

Medical Examinations (Non-NHS)

Certain services provided by the Doctors are not covered by the NHS and fees are payable for such items as:

  • HGV & PSV licences
  • Elderly driver licences
  • Insurance
  • Pre-employment medicals
  • Private certificates
  • Holiday vaccinations
  • Insurance claims
  • Fitness for sports

As doctors are not paid by the NHS for this work, the charge goes towards the running costs of the practice and compensating the doctor for his or her professional time. These fees are agreed and set by the partners and reviewed annually. The receptionists have no authority to waive or vary these charges.

Payment must be made in advance, or at the time of the service being provided. Letters or forms will not be handed or sent out until payment has been received. Payment may be made by card, in cash or by cheque backed up by a guarantee card.

Failure to attend, or late arrival for an appointment for private treatment, may result in a 50% charge of the fee.

Private consultations are also available for patients not eligible for NHS treatment (for example those who are not resident in the UK) which are charged at the current rate.
